We have years of extensive experience in all levels of courts and administrative tribunals.  Listed are our areas of litigation practice and relevant experience:

Administrative - We have experience and expertise representing clients before numerous administrative tribunals including the Ontario Human Rights Commission; the Ontario Licence Appeal Tribunal and the Ontario Municipal Board. 

Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) - As part of our commitment to resolving disputes in a creative manner, we provide alternative dispute resolution including mediation and arbitration.

Bankruptcy & Insolvency - We have experience handling litigation matters related to proposals, bankruptcies, appointment of receivers and petitions under the Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act.

Construction - We act for both builders and owners in complex lien actions which include lien registration, commencing lien actions and carrying them through to trial.  We also handle disputes related to tenders, professional liability claims, claims for extras, trust claims, occupational health and safety claims, Building Code Act matters and claims under construction bonds.

Corporate/Commercial - We advise in all matters of corporate/commercial litigation including shareholder and partnership disputes, oppression cases, fiduciary duties, breach of confidence and misrepresentation.  We also have considerable experience acting for clients where urgent injunctive relief is sought to restrain a breach of partnership or shareholder contract or fiduciary duties.

Estates and Trust – We provide representation in estate matters including the challenge to the validity of wills, the passing of accounts by estate trustees, motions for advice and direction of the Court and estate related issues involving competency, guardianship matters and powers of attorney.

Employment – We act for employers and employees in relation to termination, human rights complaints, wrongful dismissal actions and pursuit of injunction applications relating to employment contracts including issues related to solicitation, competition and use of confidential information.

Landlord and Tenant – We represent both commercial landlords and tenants in lease disputes.

Mortgages – We have experience in bringing and defending mortgage actions including power of sales and foreclosure proceedings.

Professional Negligence – We represent clients in professional negligence claims involving lawyers, engineers, health care professionals, architects and others.

Real Estate/Vendor Purchaser – We have experience in all matters related to real estate including claims for damages and specific performance related to agreements of purchase and sale, Ontario New Home Warranties Plan Act conciliations and appeals, claims related to joint ventures and limited partnerships, condominiums, certificates of pending litigation, zoning and by-law compliance issues and claims related to real estate brokers and agents.

Tax Disputes – We have considerable experience in dealing with tax related litigation, representing clients in dealing with the Revenue Canada Agency, the Federal Tax Court, the Ontario Ministry of Finance and Tax Courts; Federal Court and Federal Court of Appeal.
